Dr. Mariam Naveed is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Assistant Program Director of the Gastroenterology (GI) & Hepatology Fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. She completed her training in Internal Medicine at Duke University, and completed her fellowship training in Gastroenterology & Hepatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
In keeping with her strong interest in trainee education, Dr. Naveed works in close association with the University of Iowa Department of Internal Medicine and College of Medicine. As course director, she develops curriculum for residents and medical students working in the GI department.
Dr. Naveed is active in many national GI organizations. She is a member of the Standard of Practice Committee (ASGE), Quality Measure Committee (AGA), and Women in GI Committee (ACG).
Her clinical interests include general GI, inflammatory bowel disease, and disorders of intestinal motility. Dr. Naveed has published in a variety of areas including quality measures in endoscopy, advanced endoscopy, and Barrett’s esophagus.
