Williams, David

David Williams received his veterinary degree from the University of Cambridge and PhD from the University of Liverpool. He was an intern and resident at the University of Pennsylvania, and has held Faculty positions at the University of Florida, Kansas State, Purdue and Texas A&M Universities, and is presently a Professor at the University of Illinois.
He pioneered the development of immunoassays for enzymes in veterinary medicine (serum TLI and PL) and established numerous other assays currently provided through the GI Lab at Texas A&M, where he remains a consultant. Since his PhD studies on the jejunal microbiome in dogs with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency in the 1980s, as technological advances have occurred he has maintained a primary interest in the role of the intestinal microbiome in health and disease and the relationship to nutrient absorption and malabsorption..
