Patricia Pesavento, DVM, PhD, DIP ACVP
Dr. Pesavento received her PhD from Harvard University and her DVM and pathology residency training sequentially at the School of Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis. She joined the faculty in the Department of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology, at the School of Veterinary Medicine and enjoys her “tripartite” position that includes clinics, research, and teaching. The Pesavento laboratory has focused efforts on viral discovery in intensively housed animals such as small animals in the shelter environment or animals at the human-domestic animal-wildlife interface. Along with discovery, her laboratory investigates the biology of interactions between viruses and their target tissues - work that ranges from the molecular development of viral constructs to cell biology or diagnostics, and tissue culture models of virus:host cell interaction, and new diagnostic tests.
