Dan graduated from the University of Bristol in 1997. After some time in practice in the UK and Australia he joined the University of Liverpool, completing his residency there in 2007. He subsequently completed a PhD in intestinal glucose transporters, before becoming a lecturer in small animal medicine at the University of Liverpool Small Animal Teaching Hospital in 2011. He served as member and then chairperson of the ECVIM-CA Examinations Committee (Internal Medicine) from 2012-2019. He is currently senior lecturer in small animal medicine at the University of Liverpool. Outside of work, he is either with his family, or playing interesting wrong notes on a guitar.
