ECVIM-CA invites submission of abstracts for research communications for the 20th ECVIM-CA scientific programme in Toulouse, France. The on-line submission of abstracts will start on February 1st  2010.

There will be both the traditional oral presentations and a poster session.

Oral presenations are limited to 12 minutes with 3 minutes for discussion. Authors of all oral abstract are required to submit a PowerPoint Presentation to the Congress Organisation no later than 2 weeks before the congress (no later than August 30, 2010). Also, please bring a copy on Disk on Key or CDROM. You will be able to make last minute changes and corrections in the speaker ready room. Those abstracts selected for an oral presentation will be published in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, except those submitted for ESVCP, which will be published in the Journal of Veterinary Clinical Pathology and those submitted to ESVONC, which will be published in the JVCO. All abstracts will be published in the 2010 Proceedings of the ECVIM-CA congress as well as on WWW.VIN.COM.

There will also be a poster session throughout the meeting. During specified times, authors of posters will be required to attend their posters to answer questions. The poster size is A0 - portrait format.

Research communications should report recent clinical research, but preliminary findings will also be considered. Reviews will not be accepted. Abstracts containing any form of advertisement will be rejected. No abstract may be submitted that has been previously published or presented at an international European or American meeting. Contents must be significantly different or include new information if a similar abstract was presented earlier. If experimental research was undertaken involving animals, the scientific committee requires approval from an ethics or welfare committee before the abstract can be accepted. Please submit this at the same time as submitting the abstract. In some circumstances, the scientific committee may subsequently ask for ethical approval for abstracts that it deems require it.

All abstracts will be evaluated by the relevant society using the following criteria: scientific content, experimental design, animal welfare, and relevance to small animal medicine. The corresponding author will be notified about the decision before 1st of July 2009. All contributors younger than 35 years will automatically be submitted for one of the awards of the main sponsors and ECVIM-CA Congress Foundation. It is therefore important that you indicate your age and date of birth during the online research communication submission.

Abstracts must be submitted as described here. Abstracts must be submitted ONLINE using the congress on-line submission form. Deadline for receipt of the abstracts is April 15, 2010. The on-line abstract submission form will be deactivated as of 12:00 GMT on April 16, 2010. The congress secretariat will distribute the abstracts to the relevant societies. The abstract format is identical for all societies.

By submitting a research communication and submission form, the author(s) transfer copyright ownership so it can be published in the congress proceedings, JVIM, Vet Clin Pathol, or JVCO.

Presenters of abstracts (oral and poster) must register for the entire congress at reduced costs. Oral and or poster presenters who will not show up during the congress will be rejected for the next congress.

Please not that there will be no honorarium or travel funds for abstracts presenters
